Claire’s Corner

Hi! My name is Claire. I am 9 years old and my big sister Sarah started this food drive 7 years ago. I have always helped out every year, but this year I decided I wanted to do something special and teach you a little bit about what the Daily Bread Food Bank really needs.

Do you ever wonder what types of food are needed by the food bank?

Do you ever wonder why they are needed?

I am going to help you figure out some cool things about food and why some items are so much better than others.

Here is a list of some of the most needed types of food that the Daily Bread Food Bank is looking for:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Baby Formula and Food
  • Canned Fruits or Vegetables
  • Canned Fish or Meat
  • Dried Pasta and Tomato Sauce
  • Rice
  • Lentils
  • Cans of Soup or Hearty Stew
  • Powdered, Canned or Tetra Pak Milk
  • Cans of Beans
  • Macaroni and Cheese

Why are some food better than others?
What makes some foods better than others? It is because they have things in them that help you stay healthy and strong.

Have you heard your parents talk about things like protein, calcium, fibre, vitamins and minerals? Well, those are all big words that really mean that they contain things that our bodies need.

Good Foods

  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Fish or Meat
  • Cans of Beans
  • Rice or Dried Pasta

Bye for now,

Claire
